Book Review: Normal Kingdom Business

If you are familiar with WORLD Magazine, then you know the name Andrée Seu, one of WORLD’s senior writers. I was introduced to her writing this past year, and I must say that she is one of the best writers that I have ever read. The way that she weaves Biblical truths and theological issues with observations from everyday life is nothing short of stunning. She writes with honesty about her failings, humility about her successes, and always with a firm faith in her Savior.

In 2008, World & Life Books, published three books, which are compilations of Andrée Seu’s essays that have appeared in WORLD. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Won’t Let You Go Unless You Bless Me and Normal Kingdom Business.

One of the essays in Normal Kingdom Business, was written about a situation in which Seu was personally challenged to get out her comfort zone. She writes, “The only way to get to like doing God’s work (which no one naturally likes) is to throw yourself into it. I say this for your encouragement” (115). This is just a small taste of the colorful, and yet often convicting style of Seu’s writing.

There is so much more that could be said about Seu’s writing, but don’t just take our word for it here at P4P. Check out some her writing on your own. In the lastest issue of WORLD (January 17, 2009), Seu uses the life of George Muller as the backdrop for her article on trusting the Lord. You can read the entire article here. You can also read daily musings from Seu at the WORLD blog, which you can access here.

I look forward to getting a copy of Seu’s third book, We Shall Have Spring Again, which was published this past December. I encourage you to do the same. You won’t be disappointed.
